4th of July at the Delaware Beaches

For whatever reason, the summer season doesn’t seem to fully kick-in for us until the 4th of July. Perhaps it’s because the school year is far removed from our minds, maybe it’s the summer heat that spikes when the month of July hits, or it could be the nostalgic beauty of the anticipation of fireworks. Whatever the reason, we are in full Fourth of July mode here at Schell Brothers, which means we’ve got our eye on the lineup of 4^th of July festivities in and around our area. From Lewes right on down Coastal Highway to Ocean City, there are plenty of chances to don your red, white and blue and celebrate.
Lewes 
The City of Lewes will continue its beloved traditions for the holiday, with old-fashioned games for the kids, the Lewes Independence Day Boat Parade, and the Doo-Dah Parade. Games kick-off at 9am on Second Street, with fun for all ages. Following the games, the annual Boat Parade will wind its way down the Lewes-Rehoboth canal from the Roosevelt Inlet to Fisherman’s Wharf. Later in the afternoon, the festivities will continue with the Doo-Rah Parade, which will begin at 5pm on Kings Highway, traveling down Savannah Road and onto Second Street.
Rehoboth Beach 
Rehoboth Beach Main Street invites you to head downtown on Sunday, July 2 to watch the fireworks as they are launched from the beach. Live entertainment will be provided at the Bandstand before and after the fireworks show, which is scheduled to start at 9:15pm (*depending on weather, fireworks could be launched anytime after 8pm). Hint: Opt for the Jolly Trolley or the DART buses for easy transportation.
Dewey Beach
For a bayside performance of the fireworks on July 4^th, head to Dewey Beach where fireworks will be set off from a barge in the bay. The patriotic display will be visible from all of the bars and restaurants along the bayside in Dewey so grab a key spot early and enjoy the show (around 9pm).
Bethany Beach
In Bethany Beach, the festivities will span across the entire day, with 4th of July in downtown Bethany. The parade starts at noon at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Garfield Parkway. At 7:30, gather at the Bandstand for Love Seed Mama Jump before enjoying the fireworks at dusk!
Ocean City
Just over the state line, Ocean City knows how to throw down when it comes to July 4^th celebrations. The town hosts two fireworks displays, with Seacrets throwing their hat into the ring as well. Watching the fireworks from the iconic Ocean City boardwalk is well worth braving the traffic through town, but the fireworks at the north end of town at Northside Park are just as spectacular. Both begin at 9:30pm with live entertainment beforehand. Fireworks also start at 9:30pm at Seacrets – must be 21 to attend.
