The response of the local business community in providing monetary support of the Sussex County Extreme Makeover: Home Edition project, has been overwhelming. Pixstar, Inc., of Lewes, Delaware rose to the challenge, and donated $10,000. This extreme support, combined with other donations, will help local residents Dale and Ken Dunning, realize their dream of continuing and growing Jusst Sooup, their grassroots ministry which provides food, clothing, and often, even shelter to those in need.
“The producers of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition have touched a large number of people with the program, with the choice of families that the program supports and with the choice of communities in which they produce each episode,” says George Reissig, President and CEO of Pixstar, Inc. “They’ve created a show with substance, and broad appeal,” George adds.
Pixstar is an IT consulting firm specializing in Business Intelligence (BI) and Information Architecture (IA). One of their three guiding principles is to contribute to the virtual and local communities that we inhabit.
“We were very pleased to support this project because it is a commendable undertaking in our local community. Pixstar sees this project as one that doesn’t just build a home. It builds community through the involvement of so many individuals, businesses and organizations,” says George.
In further support of their mission, Pixstar supports the Children’s Beach House in Lewes, the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula and Public Radio Delmarva. George serves as a vice-chairman on the board of directors of Food Bank of Delaware, which received over 1700 pounds of food donations at last week’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition pep rally at Cape Henlopen High School. George was also appointed by Gov. Markell to the Delaware STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Education Council, where he chairs the Communication and Collaboration Committee.
Pixstar provides IT consulting services, primarily to the Federal Government. “Although much of our work and customers are outside of Delaware, our headquarters is in Lewes and most of our employees live nearby, explaining our interest in the well being of our community,” says George.
