Black Oak Founders Club: Meet Craig & Beth

By Adam Pettengell

Craig and Beth—what can I say about them… ha!
I have a feeling these two are going to be a very fun addition to the community. I suspect many parties will happen in their Kingfisher basement. Working in sales, you meet a lot of people, and you really do get to know them quickly. These guys are F.U.N. I reckon they could make a snow day just as enjoyable as a beautiful sunny one. Beth was ready from the get-go to get to Black Oak, and Craig joined us shortly afterward—lol. I think he’d say (and I’d agree) that buying a new home is a lot. Their home is going to be absolutely stunning, and I can’t wait to share a drink with them—whether it’s on a snowy day or a sunny one 😊.
It’s always great to add good people to the community, and in this case, we’ve added some real good’uns.

Tell us a bit about yourselves and your current situation?
We currently reside in Poconos, Stroudsburg, PA, for 20+ years. The mountain lifestyle has an amazing lifestyle to view nature, woods, wildlife, and has the ability to enjoy all four seasons. We both have our careers established, adult children, and frequent the New Jersey coastal communities throughout the year. We enjoy outdoor activities, the beach life, biking, hiking, golfing, fishing, wining and dining.

How did you hear/know about Lewes and the beach?
We have visited the Delaware beaches in the past, from Lewes to Fenwick Island. We recently reconnected to the area, through a great friend who currently resides in Milton.

Why did you pick Black Oak as your new home community?
Through our research of the surrounding area of Delaware beach communities, Black Oak, peaked our interest due to the location, east of Route 1, proximity to beaches, towns, and the state park.

Why did you choose The Kingfisher as your floor plan?
The Kingfisher floor plan accommodated our interest in an extensive first floor plan, with the ability to host guests on the second floor, and with additional space for entertaining in the basement.

What do you look forward to the most once you live in your new home in Black Oak
Establishing new friendships in the community as a BOFC (OG according to Adam), exploring the area beaches, dining, outdoor activities, and shopping.

Favorite drink/favorite food?
Beth enjoy’s Pinot Grigio or Belvedere martini (up with olives). I enjoy Bourbon or Grey Goose on the rocks. There is not a favorite food, as we enjoy many different types of cuisine.

Where are your favorite places to go out and eat at the beach?
Lewes Oyster House, Striper Bites, Wheelhouse, and Irish Eyes.

Any other places/locations/events that you love at the beach and can’t wait to attend or favorite memory from being at the beach?
Looking forward to expanding our memories by visiting the Point at Cape Henlopen State Park, boat charters, boardwalks, ferry rides, biking, and outdoor night life.

How do you feel you use, or your family will use the amenities in the community?
We look forward to enjoying the pool activities, frequenting the gym, pickleball courts, and events held at the club house.

What will your first purchase be once you live at the beach?
An Aventon eBike may be the next purchase to explore the areas and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle.

Surrounded by preserved wetlands and forests, Black Oak offers resort-style amenities, top-rated schools, and quick access to Beebe Hospital. Skip the traffic, soak in the scenery, and enjoy the best of coastal living right at home.
