2003 Schell Brothers is founded by Chris and Preston Schell and a few close friends in Delaware. They build their first 90-unit townhome, The Tides.

2004 The single-family floor plan was born, the Reddenwood Model and we built our first model, The Magnolia. Echelon Custom Homes began.

2008 Schell Brothers thrives despite the market crash. We hire our own in-house sales team, and Decor Direct, formerly known as Echelon Interiors, was established.

2009 Clean Energy, our own solar panel energy company, was founded.

2011 The Extreme Home Makeover helped catapult the brand. We began to use our patented Schellter Technology in every home.

2013 We opened our Dare to Dream Design Studio.

2015 Our sister company, Creative Courtyards, was founded.

2017 We open our first division in Richmond, VA. We began selling homes in Magnolia Green and built our first Richmond model, the Brady!

2018 The first self-developed community from start to finish is Saddle Ridge. We start developing communities ourselves.

2020 Covid allowed us to innovate in new ways and immerse ourselves in giving back to our community through Kudos Feeds Delaware. We began a partnership with Henlopen Mortgage.

2022 We launch a new division in Nashville, TN. We formed our own non-profit, the Schell Brothers Foundation. 

NOW We continue to build new homes across three divisions, each incorporating our proprietary Schellter Technology. Our unwavering focus remains on creating happiness, driving innovation, and creating stunning living spaces.
