If you are thinking of visiting Coastal Delaware, or maybe\nyou are considering building a home with us, I recommend putting together a\nlist of activities to get you excited! Besides its beautiful beaches and\nwaterways, Coastal Delaware is full of fun for the entire family. From the\nboardwalk to the vast array of farms inland, there is certainly plenty to add\nto your Coastal Delaware Bucket List. <\/p>\n\n\n

Although we are amid a global pandemic and many places have\nadjusted how they run their business, that doesn\u2019t mean that things aren\u2019t\nopen! Now is the time to support our local shops and venues who are struggling\nduring this unprecedented time. You can still enjoy curbside pick-up, the\nbeautiful beaches, some musical acts, and other outdoor activities throughout\nCoastal Delaware. <\/p>\n\n\n

I talked to a few of our team members and gathered a list of\nthings that we believe you should add to your Coastal Delaware Bucket List: <\/p>\n\n\n

The Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

You can\u2019t spend the day on Rehoboth Beach without taking a\nstroll on the Boardwalk. There you will find local and tourist favorites such\nas Funland, Dolley\u2019s and Thrasher\u2019s fries. There is plenty for the whole family\nto enjoy, all with a beautiful view of the ocean. <\/p>\n\n\n

The State Parks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

If you\u2019re in the mood for nature, but want to steer clear of\nthe beaches, head to one of our beautiful state parks. Cape Henlopen State\nPark, located in Lewes, features campgrounds, a museum, nature center, and is\npart of the Junction and Breakwater Trail. Enjoy a long walk or learn more\nabout our area\u2019s history at the Fort Miles Museum and Historical Area. Other\nstate parks are Killen\u2019s Pond State Park, Trap Pond State Park, and Fenwick\nIsland State Park. <\/p>\n\n\n

Area Breweries<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

If you are a fan of craft beer, don\u2019t worry, Delaware has\nplenty to offer! First and foremost, we are home to the famous Dogfish Head\nBrewery. The main brewery is in Milton Delaware. There you can enjoy brewery\ntours, great food and craft beer at their outdoor beer garden. Plus, you can\neven bring your dog. If you\u2019re looking to hang around Lewes, check out The\nCrooked Hammock Brewery, another great place to sit and enjoy a beer outside.\nIf Rehoboth is where you find yourself on a Friday night, check out Revolution\nBrewery for a smaller scene with great drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n

Music Venues<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Live music is always a must, especially in the summer. Our\nSchell employees love attending Freeman Stage Events in Selbyville, located in\nour Bayside community. This venue is host to national acts, local acts and\ncover artists of your favorite bands. If you like indoor venues with a\nclose-knit and intimate experience, check out the Bottle and Cork in Dewey,\nwhich is also host to both local and national acts. <\/p>\n\n\n

Fisherman\u2019s Wharf Cruises<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

If the ocean is calling you and you are fascinated by life\nunder the sea, check out Fisherman\u2019s Wharf Cruises in Lewes. They offer daily\nfishing trips, evening cruises, and even dolphin watching trips. Who knows, you\nmight even spot a whale.<\/p>\n\n\n

Kayak\/Paddleboard Down Assawoman Canal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

I am personally most excited to try paddle boarding down the\nAssawoman Canal in Bethany Beach. If you head to Bethany Surf Shop\u2019s website,\nyou can rent a kayak or paddleboard and experience a different kind of Coastal\nDelaware nature. <\/p>\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n

Berry\/Apple Picking Fifer\u2019s Orchard<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Fifer\u2019s Orchards is a great way to have some fun with the\nfamily while supporting a local Delaware business. Fifer\u2019s is great because\nthey are open most of the year and any time of year you go, there is something\nnew to experience. In the fall, they host a fall festival and families can\nenjoy picking apples and pumpkins. In the summer, they usually have berries. Although\nthe Orchard is in Northern Delaware, they have a market shop located in Dewey\nBeach. <\/p>\n\n\n

Cape May\/Lewes Ferry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Taking the ferry is a must for you and your family. It is\nsuch a fun experience for young kids to drive onto a boat and head across the\nsea. Downtown Lewes has so much to offer as far as dining and restaurants, and\nCape May is equally quaint and idyllic, why not enjoy both in the same weekend?<\/p>\n\n\n

Lavender Fields at Warrington Manor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

This is another Delaware local spot that I am so excited to\ntry. Lavender is one of my favorite scents, and at Warrington Manor in Milton\nyou can walk through acres and acres of lavender fields, tour the bee and\nbutterfly garden, and shop for handcrafted bath and body products. You can even\ntake classes to learn about the lavender.<\/p>\n\n\n

Seasonal Events<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Delaware is the place to be EVERY season, not just the\nsummer. With each season comes new and fun events and activities for you and\nyour family. In the summer enjoy Dover\u2019s biggest musical event, the Firefly\nMusic Festival. Towards the end of the summer head out to Harrington for the\nDelaware State Fair. In the fall, enjoy fall festivals all over Coastal\nDelaware, including the Seawitch Festival on Rehoboth Ave, we\u2019ll be there with\nour very own booth.<\/p>\n\n\n

Lewes and Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

We love supporting local, and what better way to do that\nthen at a farmer\u2019s market! We have a few located here in Coastal Delaware. The\nLewes Farmers\u2019 Market is open on Saturdays from 8-12pm at George H.P. Smith\nPark, and on Wednesdays from 8-11am at Crooked Hammock Brewery. The Rehoboth\nFarmers\u2019 Market is open on Tuesdays from 10am-2pm in Grove Park in Rehoboth\nBeach, DE. <\/p>\n\n\n

Downtown Lewes Shopping<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Who doesn\u2019t love shopping? Downtown Lewes has some of the\ncoolest and most fun boutiques in all Coastal Delaware. Shopping local is a\ngreat way to support our community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.\nTwo of my favorites are Edie Bees Sweets and The Bungalow on Second. <\/p>\n\n\n
