{"id":798,"date":"2011-04-13T15:01:46","date_gmt":"2011-04-13T19:01:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/schellbrothers.com\/blog\/?p=798"},"modified":"2011-04-13T15:01:46","modified_gmt":"2011-04-13T19:01:46","slug":"the-first-courtyard-series-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/schellbrothers.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/13\/the-first-courtyard-series-home\/","title":{"rendered":"The First Courtyard Series Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-808\" title=\"mulberry-courtyard-blog-crop\" src=\"http:\/\/schellbrothers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/mulberry-courtyard-blog-crop-660x265.jpg\" alt=\"The Mulberry Courtyard at The Villages at Herring Creek\" width=\"660\" height=\"265\" \/><br \/>\nWe\u2019ve finished our first Courtyard Series model at the Villages at Herring Creek and will be launching the full series in the next few weeks. \u00a0I think you\u2019ll really like this home series. \u00a0The Courtyard Series is based upon extensive research about what Boomers are looking for in a home.\u00a0 Here are just a few of the design aspects of these houses that are unique:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Courtyards:<\/strong> By far the most unique aspect of these homes is the Courtyards.\u00a0 The feedback provided by boomers was that they wanted more \u201cusable\u201d, private, and comfortable outdoor living space.\u00a0 The research indicated that backyards are very rarely used and that production homes don\u2019t allow for a usable practical outdoor area.\u00a0 So, all Courtyard Homes live around an outdoor courtyard space.\u00a0 The living area and the master bedroom open onto this space. \u00a0The outdoor space is raised so that there is not a big drop between the indoor and outdoor spaces.\u00a0 It can be made private via fencing or planting an evergreen border.\u00a0 There are also multiple \u201cspaces\u201d or outdoor rooms to the Courtyards.\u00a0 For example, the Courtyard at the Villages at Herring Creek has 3 \u201coutdoor rooms\u201d:\u00a0 an outdoor dining area, a sunbathing\/lounge area, and an outdoor living area (sofas\/chairs with a fireplace).<\/li>\n<li><strong>No Formal Dining Room<\/strong> but enlarged dining area in place of breakfast nook:\u00a0 all the homes have bar seating in the kitchen and an enlarged breakfast nook type area for a large dining table.\u00a0 The feedback we received was that formal dining rooms are never used and are a waste of money &amp;
