Enjoy the quiet.

The quaint beach community with a small-town atmosphere is a fading part of Americana, but it does still exist. Bethany Beach, Delaware, is part of the Quiet Resorts, a seven-mile stretch of sandy, Atlantic Ocean beaches. Bethany Beach proper has a population of just under 1,000 permanent residents, but you won’t believe the dining, entertainment and recreational opportunities

When you call Bethany Beach home, the ocean is a focal point. Sailing, fishing, crabbing, water skiing, boating and just walking along Bethany Beach’s half-mile long boardwalk, are some of the activities you’ll find. There is also great shopping and dining, as well as regular community events such as the Boardwalk Arts Festival and the Fourth of July parade. There is plenty to do here year-round in this tight-knit community.

Should you miss the bustle of the city, nearby Rehoboth Beach, just 13 miles north, can fill in anything you might need or want, including more dining, shopping, hotels and bed-and-breakfast amenities. And Baltimore, Washington D.C., Richmond and Philadelphia are just a few hours away.

You might want to visit the city, but you’ll look forward to returning to the haven your Bethany Beach home offers.

Enjoy the water.

Life in a beach town revolves around the water, and Sunset Harbour at Bethany Beach is right on the bay. The swimming at Bethany Beach is good from May through early October, but there’s plenty to do year-round. This is the kind of place where families get together and never run out of things to do. Boating and crabbing are great activities that bring families closer together.

At your Delaware beach house, nature is your playground. Enjoying the view is an activity in itself. White Creek runs through the town of Bethany Beach, making a scenic wetland environment, and runs to the Indian River Bay, which leads to the great big Atlantic Ocean, which is just waiting to be explored. Better yet, head south by boat through the beautiful Assowoman Canal, leading you directly into Fenwick and Ocean City. The waterways around Sunset Harbour feel endless!

The homes and community of Sunset Harbour at Bethany Beach are designed to compliment the area’s lifestyle and charm, both in their quaint 19th century architecture and in the community amenities that support the luxury boating and Bethany Beach vacation home lifestyle.

Enjoy the atmosphere.

Think of a beach community in a simpler time — white picket fences, parades, the mayor who knows your name. Bethany Beach, rich in it’s more than 100-year history, is one of the few pristine beach communities left that have maintained this kind of old-fashioned charm and genuine friendly spirit.

Despite its small size, Bethany Beach boasts many vacation homes, more than 40 restaurants, great local shopping, a broad sandy beach, a boardwalk, as well as waterfront bed-and-breakfasts and hotels. There are three state parks within close proximity, including Delaware Seashores, a waterfront park with six miles of beaches. White Creek runs through the town of Bethany Beach, adding to its charm and beauty. Bethany’s neighboring beaches, Dewey (known as a party place) and Rehobeth (known for its big-city bustle) offer more shopping, dining and entertainment options. Bethany Beach offers a haven for those who want more quiet options. A six-mile barrier island blocks Dewey Beach's noise. Serving as another buffer is a large unincorporated area of private condominiums and multi-million-dollar beach homes, as well as Delaware Seashores State Park, directly to the north of town.

Guarding Bethany Beach’s oceanfront is its signature landmark totem pole, "Chief Little Owl," a Nanticoke Indian chief carved from a red cedar log. Bethany Beach's ocean waters are great for swimming, fishing, surfing and boogey-boarding and raft riding. On the bay side, the waters are great for sailing, windsurfing, jet skis, fishing, crabbing, water skiing and boating.

On a typical evening in Bethany Beach you might catch a concert at the beach bandstand, dine at a restaurant overlooking the ocean, play basketball or volleyball, stop at a video arcade, or just walk along Bethany Beach's 1/2-mile long boardwalk.
