We have already raised more money than we need to actually construct the home, due to the outpouring of support from the local community. But rather than simply giving the excess funds to the family, we would like to ensure that expenses are taken care of well into the future.
We are asking for the public’s help in establishing a charitable trust for the Dunning family, money that can be used to pay the home’s expenses for many years into the future.
“Ideally, it would be great if the trust were large enough to cover the entire expense of owning the home so that it is literally free to the family,” said Chris Schell, who is managing the local project. “The folks who work for the show love the idea and have informed us that this would be the first time anything like this has ever been done.”
